·         Dickinson travels to Washington, D.C., 1855. She traveled alongside her sister, Lavina Dickinson; they visited various places including Mount Vernon and the U.S. Patent Office. During their travels they stayed at the Willard’s Hotel. Dickinson travels to Washington, D.C. to visit her father who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
